Mom you truly are the best!
Thanks for always emailing me every week. You've always left me with a great example and taught me to love and serve others. I know we all have faults, but your example for me was always superb.
I hope you have a great mother's day, because you certainly deserve it!
Thanks for always taking care of all of us, running around with all the stuff we did, I had a way awesome childhood! I can't thank you enogh for always supporting me in all my decisions and efforts and dreams!

Cinco De Mayo!
Yeah I think we'll make sandwiches and play uno with the zone to celebrate!
This week was pretty wild. We worked our tails off, teaching 4 lessons on the p-day! in three hours.
I like working with Elder Moon because when other missionaries would say, "Ah man, we're not going to get our goal of addresses" Elder Moon gets frantic! "We HAVE to get our addresses!" Even if it means chasing down people on the street, but we always get our goal!
And I've learned that's when the Lord blesses us with success. This week I had a bit of a cold and was really beat, but we kept going and the Lord blessed us.
After a few weeks of struggling to get people to commit to coming to church we finally had some success. 8 this week and we should be able to get 12 next week, which is the goal.
We've finally found a man to baptise, which is really great because the Branch needs more priesthood holders to become a ward. ALDO is his name and he'll be baptized on the 10th, for whoever can pray for him that would be great!
We had a member give us a reference 3 weeks ago, but she always told us she couldn't come to church becuase she had too many clothes to wash... I was thinking, "man, what kind of excuse is that" But after church we stopped by and I saw more clothes and clotheslines than I have ever seen in my life!!! She only has three kids! How do they make so much laundry??? Anyway she was finishing up washing their shoes when we got there! We found her a ride to watch the other Branch's meeting that afternoon. She loved it and will come again next week. We'll stop by saturday to help her tackle her laundry!

I know that this really is the Lord's church and his work. There are so many little miracles that show that. We are really teaching by the spirit now, and there are so many times I feel him giving me the idea of what to say or when to keep silent. When I see what happens in the investigator's face, I know that inspiration was real.
For me, I often hear the phrase "the spirit was so STRONG!" but in all my lessons, It's pretty rarely that I feel some STRONG feeling. Usually it's a quiet certainty during what I'm saying, or a small idea that pops into my mind and feels good. Or he brings something to remembrance that President has told us to do in a lesson.
I follow that inspiration, but it's only after I bear testimony, make a question, challenge, pause, that I feel the spirit carrying our message to the heart of the person. And I see it in their faces, I really can see what is happening in their eyes, and many times I can feel what they are feeling.
That is always really amazing. I can tell them exactly what they are feeling, and watch the surprise on their face.
It took me a while to learn all this. That it isn't me that will convert these people. It is the spirit and I have to trust it 100%. I've learned not to wait when we hear it's promptings. If he prompts me to turn around and talk to the person we walked past 4 blocks ago, I won't think twice. Just go.

This week was awesome.
We had transfers which resolved all the problems that a couple missionaries were having! We now have 3 couples of sisters and 4 duos of elders here.
My companion is Elder Moon from Pleasant Grove. He's a pan off the handle, really excited to be here I'm excited too.
Last night we made pancakes in a family night. It's been a while since the missionaries in this area have done one. I don't know why, it was a huge success. I didn't know we had that many youth here until they all showed up to eat our "american pancakes" with maple syrup. They were more like crepes and everybody ends up putting sweetened condensed milk on the pancakes in the end. Sweetened condensed milk is soooo good! They use it on everything here!
Elder Moon cooked the pancakes and I went on splits with a young man to invite a few more people. We managed to pack the house!
This sunday we had a few more people at church. I got super excited when one of our investigators came via Motorcycle. I thought he had bailed on us!

This week was awesome.

Are The Easter Eggs On Sale?
Well Family,
Thanks for all the awesome emails. Easter was fantastic, but I was a bit down because we had nobody at church.
Easter was super good to think about the Savior and the Ressurection. I hope that we can always remember his Triumph over death Spiritually and Phisically.
It's so wonderful that we can be "Born again" Like it talks about in Alma 5. We have to experience a mighty change of heart, varias times.
Well my companion was Transfered. I'll miss him, but it's kind of a good thing because walking too and from our area was killing him. I start to wonder if I'll be falling apart at the end of the mission too? haha. I hope not.
Easter was tranquil. There was more of a celebration on Good Friday. Everybody keeps the catholic tradition of not eating red meat or chicken. Generally fish and eggs. Which is great, it's been a LONG time since I've eaten fish!
I'll have to send you some pics of the chocolate eggs they sell here. I was telling all the kids that In the US, we eat bunnies..... Chocolate bunnies! haha.

Hey everybody!
So this week was pretty great toward the end. President Kuceki came to watch our zone meeting. That means running back to the house to clean a bit before the assistants sleep-over. Here they rate your house; Celestial, Terrestrial, Telestial, or OUTER DARKNESS!. You don't want to get an outer darkness rating...
The meeting was good, the only part they'll remember is when we split a coconut using a candy (like a starburst). Seriously! It was pretty awesome. We talked about how the spirit takes our message to the heart, like it says in Nephi 33:1 and Corinthians 2:10. Then we formed the candy into a point and slammed a green coconut on it, it goes into the coconut!!! I won't tell you how many times we practiced at home. The secret is that the coconut is pretty impossible to open with your hands, but the candy splits it because it gets between the fibers.
Did I tell you about the explosive example we did last meeting?
Yep, so we've got a fridge and a microwave, the washing machine is in good order, and today I bought a toilet seat so we're in good shape! This morning I went into the bathroom and found a super cool looking tree frog, it was only AFTER I had trapped him in a sack that Elder Jesus told me it was called a "carrasco" They glue themselves to a cow's leg and suck the blood like a leech.... He was like "Don't let it out of the sack!" Told me you have to go to the hospital to burn it off your leg.... ok.
The investigator that dreamed she was baptized wasntbaptized this week. We're helping her with the Word of Wisdom, she'll be baptized this saturday.
To end I'd like to share something we learned in the "The Power of the Member Missionary" book that president gave us (I'm reading up everything he gives us because it's super good)
In times of war the troops on the front line are given the most powerful weapons. The troops that work at HQ aren't given weapons as powerful because they work mostly with administrative things.
With our callings, sometimes we can do most of it without the help of the spirit, administrative things, but when we become member missionaries, we are put on the front lines in the war between God and Satan and the souls of men are at stake. We Need the spirit every day.
When we become everyday missionaries, we will have the spirit more powerfully in our lives. (great book)
Any ideas for the next zone meeting???

Cold Water Never Tasted So Good!

Good news!
I mentioned the appliances to president and I got a call from the Secretaries the next day to confirm our address. The Fridge got here Friday!!!! Repeat, WE GOT THE FRIDGE!
For now we've got a fridge and a microwave, so I'm in heaven. Not to mention the washing machine that just missing a small part so it can work!
Haha. For now the fridge just has water in it. But we're ecstatic to have cold water.
Conference was refreshing, much like the cold water. I liked Elder Bednar's talk about our loads giving us traction.
Everybody here loved Bishop Stevensons talk about 4 minutes!
We had a bit of a rough week, but there were definitely some highlights. We went to Goiânia by buss. Missed the first bus due to misinformation on our tickets, on the way back there were also a few delays. There were two busses on the same route. At a gas station they had a disagreement about who would make a stop to pick up a passenger along the route. It looked like our driver lost, so we detoured to get the passenger. Later on we were stuck in traffic, turns out the other bus that had gone on ahead had been side-swiped by a big truck, and the driver was hospitalized. The Lord protected us, it could have been our bus.
Other than that
we had an investigator that dreamed she was being baptized in cold water wearing white after praying about the book of mormon.
He hears our prayers.

My companion wants to learn english. I've taught him a dozen primary songs and I like teaching him. I've gained appreciation for the patience my trainers had for me. Especially when he keeps saying "world. World. world. world. world. Practicing that word... I guess it's a tricky word. haha.
Today we're going to make banana splits... DEEP FRIED banana splits. should be tastey.
This week we have mission council. that means I'll be in goiania and you can bet I'm gonna squeeze my fridge out of the secretaries! Squeeze lovingly of course.
We've been working really hard, the results are a bit slow coming, but I know we'll have lots of success here. Something interesting I'm learning is to worry about helping the other missionaries have success more than worrying about my own area. I've had to do some pretty crazy things to help some investigators baptize!
I love this work and I know the Lord is with us. I feel the spirit when I teach, telling me what I'm saying is right. I know when my investigators feel the spirit. I know the gift of tongues is real too!
